I'm 36 hours into this fast and I haven't lost a thing. When I started I was 125.2lbs. I weighed myself before bed and I had gone up to 125.6lbs! I weighed myself when I woke up and I was back at 125.2lbs.
I'm at work now but I plan to hit the scale as soon as I get home. If I haven't lost I'll make a B-line for the gym. If I've lost I'll make a B-line for the gym anyway because this is bullshit and I can do better.
Anyone else have such shitty results with fasting?
In my experience it's much more better and effective to restrict. I don't know why I gave in and fasted this time. I guess I was just desperate to really feel like I was making progress. Fasting makes me feel empty, weak, light headed and all the rest of it... but I never have anything to show for it. On top of that, I end up gaining anything I miraculously managed to lose as soon as I eat a bite of food. Who knew half an apple could weigh half a pound?
Damn you, body. If you want me to be "healthy" you'll start giving me the results I need. If you showed me that I could eat and lose weight then I'd continue to eat. But you're incapable, and so I can't eat. (A more logical person would say, "Hey doofus. That's a sign that you need to eat. Your body is obviously malfunctioning due to lack of food. It's showing you that it needs to eat." To you I say, "This is my experiment so fuck off. No one said it would be easy.")

I ALWAYS have some coconut water handy to drink periodically throughout fasts; it has more electrolytes and nutrients than any energy drink you could ever find, yet it's lower cal and 100% natural. It helps keep the metabolism from shutting down with minimal cals or guilt.
I call it smart-fasting haha ;]

DeleteTotally agree with the coconut water thing. I'm planning on doing some alternate-day fasting for a week or two (100cal/500cal) and intend to down a bottle of coconut water on my 100cal days. So clean and refreshing :)

ReplyDeleteOnce, I didn't eat anything other than diet soda and gum for two weeks, then when I started adding in 200 to 500 calories a day, I actually lost about seven pounds, so maybe adding in a little extra food would trick your body into letting go of some weight.

ReplyDeleteI have tried fasting before and as a bigger person myself, well i found it didnt help when i went back to eating. Start by doing small walks (20 mins) a day for the first week, then double that to 40 mins and then the week after 1hr per day. Also, drink 2 litres of water a day, either fill up two 1 litre bottles and drink them throughout the day, or drink 8 pint cups. But dont go to bed until they are EMPTY. Then food wise, I found vegetarian found was easier to stop making you get takeaways, so try that.
DeleteIf you drink soda, STOP. No diet soda either. Eliminate ALL fast food, candy, chips, cheeses, pork meat etc. Try eating ONLY baked chicken for meat. Cook it on a rack if possible to let everything drain out. And eat a salad on the side of that. A good rule of thumb is portions that are the size of your palm. Eat an Apple for lunch and have a cup of plain green tea. Keep a diet like this as your every day routine. Let your family know your eating different because you haven't had as much energy and you want to make healthy changes. They should approve. Along with walking, try pilates. Look up some videos online, and stick to it. Do it every day. It helps strengthen your muscles by elongating them without building bulky muscle. Once you've stuck to this for a month or two, turn your walk into a daily run. Drink plenty of water. The post above is right, vegetarian food is a good option but I can be hard to transition to from regular eating habbits. Once you get used to eating only chicken, its easier to cut out your meat. Fish is fine too, I just hate fish lol. Good luck and never give up on yourself. You'll see results and let that be your motivation.

ReplyDeleteI found a pint of diet Lemonade in the morning made my metabolism really fast. I fasted for 3 months, eating 100-250 calories a day and in those 3 months i lost 4 STONE!! When I stopped drinking the lemonade in the morning though, I found i wasnt losing it as quick. I went from 13stone to 9stone doing that! Try it

ReplyDeleteI just started a fast...I do lose weight fast..they say water weight...but my cloths fit so much loser and I can wear smaller sizes..so I must be losing fat also....just do some exercises to keep toned up....or some weight to build the muscle back....I fast for a week..then eat something small once a week to get my energy back up...still eating healthy a low fat stuff..I find I lose even more weight this way...kind of tricks the body from thinking it is in starvation mode ! Then back to my fast....I am at 135 now and my goal is about 105..I have been at 104 before I loved the way it looked on me...not only that..but I felt great in my cloths.... and everything seems to look better on me at that weight...I can wear anything I want..all styles and look good in everything !! I am not giving up...like someone said on here earlier.....your weight loss might slow down and it might seem you are never going to lose more weight..but you will.....your body eventually has to give in and drop the weight...

ReplyDeleteLast time I fasted for 3 days, I lost a pound and a half a day. It felt SO good. I worked out during it cuz it kept my energy and metab up. I remember I had to keep myself mentally very busy.
Now I'm going to go for 5 days. I hope it will mean at least 8 pounds off. That would be a dream!
I remember it was really hard handling the 4th day last time, so this time I want to improve. It's like 99% mental! We can do it!

I recently gained 10lbs!!!! I'm 5'2 and now weigh 140!!!!! How do u guys fast and not feel icky?? I used to b able to do it but now I can't as well!!!! It's very frustrating!!! DeleteI wake up, take my hydroxycut, drink a protein shake with some peanut butter and I'm full of energy all day. I don't even get hungry, so all I need the rest of the day is water. I've been losing a pound or more a day. I used to be 5'7" and 115 and I managed to get up to 148 :( After about six days now, I'm down to 140. And this is without any real exercise. I'm a hair stylist, so I'm always on my feet, but no exercise other than that. Not sure if this will help anyone or not, but I thought it was worth sharing :)
ReplyDeleteI've gota ball in two weeks, and I need to loose weight fast for it, this site is great, the thinspo is very motivating. I'm 5ft 6, (168cm) and weigh 167lb (76kg) - I,m hideous. I'll take a loss of 3 -4 kgs by next saturday. I'm using the lemon pepper detox for breakfast, having a lunch of somehting ultra-low calorie and with no carbs, and lemon pepper detox before bed. Becuase I am used to having something hot at night, I am using chicken stock cubes to make a chicken brith - on 7 calories, and it supports the habbit of eating, but replaces it with a better choice. I can't fast becuase I drive a lot for work, and getting light headed in that situation is dangerous.. but this is the lowest I can do. Will keep watching your blog, you inspire me.

I just started piling the weight on because I stopped thinking about it and I used to be able to eat nothing but now I just think 'oh, it's fine because I'll eat nothing tomorrow' but it never gets to that. ReplyDeleteI use bio-oil for the few little ones i got, its a bit expensive but worth it :) you have to do it regularly, but you really see the results after a few weeks!
DeleteI used Jergens Cocoa and Vitamin E body lotion. I got in an accident a few years back and got an awful scar from it, the Jergens really helped. It went from awful to non existant without using even the whole bottle!! That and i took Vitamin E supplements
DeleteBio-oil is useless and toxic, I use avishi's intensive repair oil, faded my marks in 4 weeks, and I use it on my face to get rid of acne scars and dark spots as well. Works very well!

ReplyDeleteI've had successful fasts and not so successful ones. I think what helps me is to have a fast journal/blog for the duration of each fast. Each day for the duration (1 wk/2 wks/3 wks, etc) I log in what has happened that day, how I handled stress w/o food and how my body is feeling. It helps me remember that there is something I'm working toward.

ReplyDeleteI'm fasting right now. started yesterday and ends Jan 1st. Not allowed anything until jan 2nd. Its going to be very hard and tough to fast for so long, but the benefits will be worth it. And I agree, with the coconut water.
ReplyDeletehey guys. i am 13 and pretty short... about 4"9 but idk its been a while since ive measured myself. im 83 pounds... i have a body type that can change very quickly... I can't fast because my friends and family will notice that i haven't had dinner and start freaking out... so i have yet to figure out how i am going to fast :( but anyways, the reason i want to lose weight is to be pretty for school and the boys... lots of people have a boyfriend in my grade but I dont. a lot of boys think im weird. i dont look good in any clothes. a couple of months ago i lost like 5 pounds and that one night i tried on all my clothes and i looked good in every one of them... since then i have gained a couple pounds... it hard with my body type, though. if i eat too much one day then when i wake up the next morning, i will gain like 5 pounds. if i stick to my diet then i can expect to lose about 3 pounds in the morning. but i'm always fatter at night than in the morning. i think our bodies burn all the food while we're sleeping. but idk.

ReplyDeleteactually, when I fast, I don't feel the "stomach hunger" after a day. I feel fatigued, but not a distinct discomfort. To get over the stomach hunger, the best thing is to take a walk, dance, drink lots of water, and distract yourself. It will go away.

ReplyDeleteI'm so grateful to find your site. I'm from Africa and had no idea there were so many people like me out there. Fasting was working for me SLOOOOOOWLY and then I had to go to hospital and had to eat, I just ate the vegetables only and when I got home, I'd lost more weight than with fasting. Estimated kilojoules were about 1000kj a day. (300 calories) Hang in there... you are not alone.
You should maybe try 24 hr intermittent fasting or eat-stop-eat. Initially you will not get results but over a period of time your body will get used to fasting and also will start to shed pounds steadily and consistently. Adding exercise to that is also crucial, and a healthy diet when you do break your fast. Fat burning starts at 18 hrs of a fast and levels out around 30 hrs. So make sure you get to 24 hrs before eating. Oh and it is suggested that you fast at least once or twice a week every week for the rest of your life. ;D Good Luck!

So wil a person get results from dieting alone and not any exercise? I want to see the line down my stomach and have no "love handles" . My goal weight is 120 or lower. ReplyDeleteI'm a dude, 19, 5 9", and 210. Tired of being chubby and overweight. All my clothes are all awkward fitting and I don't get to have the kinda style I'd like to. I don't even bother to talk to girls anymore because I have confidence issues spawning from my weight -_-. Definitely think I'm gonna start a water fast. Don't have a particular goal, just will be happy when I no longer have Man-Boobs...
ReplyDeleteI did want to offer a word of caution though, without sounding too domineering. I've been reading up on the topic of fasting, particularly water fasting, and I was just concerned about younger people fasting during/around times of important growth. If you start fasting during puberty or around a time you'd normally be growing than there is a possibility you could stunt your growth and cause protein deficiencies and all that icky stuff. Also, if you already are pretty thin than fasting for extended periods of time can also be a bad idea.
The way fasting works is after being denied food for usually around 3 days your body switches to stored fats for energy, this means that if you don't have a lot of extra fat, well, you can't hold out for very long and run the risk of having vital organs eaten away :o not fun. I'm referring to water fasting here, btw, as in nothing but water.

For my fast, I'm doing 1 cup of black coffee in the morning, and water for the rest of the day. If you're worried about lacking proper nutrition, you can do what I do. I take a daily vitamin to avoid scurvy, anemia, and all that other stuff.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure that they have some sort of supplement for the protein. Also, if you find that you feel fatigued, a glass of ice water helps me to wake up.
To keep my energy up, I have a glass of cold water before my morning coffee. It gives me energy for the whole day!
Just finished my 5th day of my fast. Decided to finally get on the scale today. I've gone from 207 to 197! I can't believe I lost so much so fast! I don't expect to keep losing 2lbs a day, but man am I excited!

I'm 5'11 & Currently weigh 165. I've fasted before for a few months & i dropped from 210 to 155. I gained 10 pounds back since then(about 4 years ago). I really want to go down to 145 so I'm going to start fasting again. I know after the first week I'll be strapped down & disciplined. A few tips from my previous fasting experience; Eat ice or chew gum if you want to eat, you'll trick your mind into believing that you're eating food. Drink a lot of water to keep you full. Clean out your closet or your house to stay busy(plus you burn a lot of calories!). If you're really struggling and you want to eat, eat in front of the mirror, naked.

ReplyDeleteThis is amazing ! It really is motivating.. Jan. 1. 2012 was da day I promised myself to drop weight and be at a healthy weight. Currently overweight..well actually I think its rite on da verge of obese. 180. Horrible number. And I'm only 16, 5 '5... my lowest weight ever was like 4 yrs ago at 130 ... rite now id be glad just to be in da 150s again! I think ima fast n den eat lightly one day a week so I can get like dat fiber in n stuff as well as veggies n fruits. Da day I do eat a week its ofcourse gunna be very low cal n healthy. No more binging... I love da thinspiration fotos. It takes determintaion. I know I can do thiss !

Now I'm 20 and I weigh 75kgs (I've had a very stressful last two years) I'm so sick of being FAT. My sister recently added Christmas photos to her facebook and i wanted to cry. I am HUGE!!!! I started a fast a few days ago and I didn't weigh myself to start with but a little over a month ago I was 210 and yesterday i weighted in at 186. I started the fast then the next day ate a danish, a mini can of pop and something else, i forget now nothing the next and the day after had half a black bean burrito, cream corn and a mini pop. (whole wheat tortilla, plain black beans, salsa, a few low fat tbsp plain yogurt) the next day a few bites of rice and a few bites of a Thai veg stir fry at a restaurant (was spending time with a friend and so i couldn't not eat) and yesterday 1 bite of french bread. I might have a cucuber today since its net cal is zero
ReplyDeleteI'm 5 foot 6.5 inches so my ultimate goal is 125 but right now I plan on stopping the fast for a breif break when I get to 20 days or 166 lbs. I figure thats a good stopping point. I figure I'll take 7 days and eat about 1500 cal then go back for 20 days or lbs again. If I keep that up by April 30 I should be what? down 60 maybe? ooo that would be ideal.
I figure when i get to my goal I will keep a normal consumtion of 1500ish cal a day and tone up.
Haven't been on since December. I had to stop fasting because I nearly got found out.I got a gym membership though, down to 190. Not as fast as I lost while fasting, but I'll be combining the two, hoping for even better results! Stay strong!

I'm 13, 5'4 (ish:L) and 101pounds. My ultimate goal is 90lbs but my first milestone is 98lbs. I can't fast because my parents would never let me go without breakfast or dinner but i can skip lunch at school although my friends get suspisious. One of my best friends is tiny, she's popular, smart, sporty, pretty, SKINNY and perfect. Its like having thinspo sitting next to me in maths...I NEED TO BE BEAUTIFUL. I AM TOO FAT TO EVER BE LOVED. I've been ill that past few days and havent been able to excercise but i'm back to school tomorrow so i'll skip lunch, 100 sit ups before and after school, take the longer walk home from school and try leave some dinner. thanks for the thinspo, keeps me going!
ReplyDeleteI started at 136 I now am 130 and my goal is 115 or lower. I am 5' 2' and am sick of having chubby legs. I want to be able to wear highwasted shorts and skinny jeans without looking like a sausage. Good luck to everyone!
ReplyDeleteright now im eating no more than 500 cals a day. Im 237lbs which is just disgusting. Im planning to add some exercise and do fasting in the week as well. My UG is 120 by August I want to weigh 180 at least
ReplyDeleteI just found this site im so exited to have some sort of support group. I am 5'4 and 140. i have good muscle tone but this layer of fat that i cant get ride of! my goal is to be down to at least 125 by april, i want a flat stomach, no love handles and smaller thighs. wish me luck!
ReplyDeleteafter finding this site im going to really buckle down and restrict my cals, i cant fast b/c i get light headed and fatigued easily, and im a student have to concentrate!
if anyone has any food substitute ideas or concoctions let me knw! I hear about this one with some sort of pepper and syrup??

ReplyDeleteheey, i started this diet last Thursday. I kind of made it up my self, i just browsed the internet and combined different diets. since last Thursday i have lost 4.2 pounds, i went from weighing 167pounds to 162.8. iam so happy with myself but it gets really hard, i fasted yesterday but i haven't eaten today yet im just not hungry (which is a surprise)my goal weight is 90 pounds so i have a long road ahead. i am 5'4, i think that the people around me are starting to notice a change in my eating habbits.

i fasted for 2 days and lost 2 kilos im so happy with these results that im going to continue to fast, but it has side affects today i felt so hot and tired and i9 was so angry at everyone, every little thing made me angry so i ate some jelly (sugar free) its a life savor and i have this exercise routine its working like a charm:

30 side burpys
3 sets of 30 situps
3 sets of 30 crunches
150 star jumps
full leg workout
full arm workout
i walk most places
30 back crunches
Dance for 30 minutes
20 minute jog morning and afternoon
lunges
step ups
wall sits
plank for 30 seconds x 3 sets
i go to the park and workout on the exercise machines
walk my dog
bike ride for 30 minutes
swim if possible
and spar with my brother
this keeps me going when im hungry i do situps and the pain just goes away, i also have a list of foods that i can and cant eat.
i want to weigh 90lbs so i need to loose around 70 lbs, its a long road but if i stay strong i can achieve it.

I'm starting this tomorrow! Does it effect your school work? Do you feel more tired? I'm taking the SAT on Saturday and I'm scared I won't be able to focus if I haven't eaten anything for two days?! Btw I'm 5'9 and 150 pounds aiming for 120 by mid June! Can I do it?
ReplyDeletenever been on a thinspiration site before and tbh i was scared to look! but i am so glad that i came on this site, as it is sooooo inspiring. i am 18, 5'4 and weigh 114 lbs (8st) my aim is to get to 100 (7st). with me, if i stick to my diet for a week i am fine! also what i find annoying is that if i have one slip up during the day, then i know i am going to mess up the whole day as i use it as an excuse to binge. but from now on i am gonna stick to it, well as much as i can without my family noticing! banana for breakfast to get my metabolism going, nothing for lunch and avoid dinner as much as i can; however, if i can't then i will just eat as little of it as possible. i reaaaally hope i stay motivated and disciplined, wish me luck!

ReplyDeleteI really need to lose weight & I have 6 weeks to do it. I can't fast because my fiancé will get suspicious and go nuts seen as he eats a lot because he does weight lifting. I've tried to restrict my eating like I use to but nothing's working! I suffer with severe depression & this is not helping. Please please PLEASE someone help me :'(
hello im 26 yr, 5'1, 150lbs yesterday and the last time i check this morning im 148lbs. im hoping that my diet will go on with your support, coz i really need that. 5yrs ago i weight 118lbs and then i kept on eating so i gain that much... last november i loss weight and was 129lbs but holidays came and forget to watch my diet and now i gain again.... i do drink lots of water and drink slimming juice twice a day. that juice helps me a lot, makes me want to drink more water and wont crave for food. hope tomorrow i will not be tempted for any temptations i'l be out with my friends.... ^mua
ReplyDeleteWell I amm attempting the 50 day thinspo diet except I changed the calories and lowered them. I also added way more fasting days (every four days) and I put all the exercises together to do them all on the same day for twice the amount of time and three times a day. Hardcore thinspo right here. the highest calorie intake I have is 400 besides on my birthday I have 700.
ReplyDeleteI'm 5'2 and currently weigh 116 pounds. I want to weight 107 but it's so hard for me to fast. I love food and can't resist hunger pangs... but I hate the way I look. I always have. How do you guys fast for DAYS? HOW?!!!

My ultimate goal is 160 id be very satisfied with.that ill keep you posted if its working out :)
ReplyDeleteIm starting a water fast .. had a car accident where i had stitches in my mouth and weeks later i had been at my lowest weight 108(im 5'1) right now im 150 last week i was 158 so some progress... but i havent been fasting just calorie restriction and cardio n abs everyday .. now i will start my water and aloe fast hoping to be 140 by sunday((4th day)

ReplyDeleteOkay so im 5"7 and 181 lbs im really muscular because i do roller derby....my body fat is 23%but I look soo bulky I eat pretty well and run 3xs a week on top of derby but it does nothing! I need to be 140 any suggestions?

Snack: 1/2 green apple
Lunch: 10 raw almonds, 10 baby carrots
Snack: Maybe some more carrots or a banana
I've been skipping dinner and been okay. I need to buy a scale so I can actually track my progress.. I've spent so much money throughout the months on diet pills, and I've never seen a difference :( I love thinspo! So inspiring!! just sucks when I see their tiny thighs and I've still got fat inner thighs, love handles, and stupid hard to work off areas of body fat.. HELP!!
Yesterday i ate about 600 calories and i lost 2 lbs already. Im going to keep going and probably start to constrict my clories. I will let you know how it goes! If anyone needs help or anything feel free to email me at blondiemay20@aol.com
ReplyDeleteI just started my water fast. It's day 1 haha. It's not too bad. If I start to get cravings I'll chew half a stick of sugar free gum. I don't know how long I'm going to go, I guess my goal is a full 40 days; but honestly I'll be impressed if I get passed 20. Wish me luck!
